Default 78' Audi 5000 rough idle problems/anyone know about the sudden acceleration recall they had

If anyone can give me any info on rough idling problems also on the recall that they had on the sudden acceleration problem which they recalled on my model. How do you tell if it was repaired?

Thanks,
Scott

Default First, have you checked/changed the basic tune-up parts? Next check into the fuel system...

how's the f-pump, filter, injectors, etc. Any vacuum leaks, hissing noises? Is the idle stabilizer sticking, or making noise?

The only "repairs" Audi made during the Unintentional Sudden Acceleration episode was to install a new shift lock device which prevented shifting of gears without the application of the brakes. They also changed the ISV (idle stabilizer valve.
If you can move your shift lever from park into any gear without stepping on the brake then the device was not installed or is no longer working.

Default I believe that recall was to add the shift interlock kit...

where you had to have your foot on the brake pedal to shift it into gear. This was only on the automatic.
