hey, i know nothing about audi's, but always liked their lines. i found an 83 quattro in a farmers field for $450. the car needs a clutch and perhaps the slave cylinder. is this an easy repair (i did the clutch on my 85 saab 900t)? is this a good year, is this car reliable? also are there some good sites for recycled audi parts? thanks in advance
josh

1) early Quattros troublesome
2) hard to find parts
3) harder to find good mechanics
I would be extremely leery of one that's been out in a field, largely because of the big exposure of underbody and drivetrain to weather/animals/bugs, etc. I would bet you would buy it and quickly get frustrated with all the money and time thrown into it to get it approaching road condition.
(Did this vintage Audi have the hydraulic brake assist, rather than vacuum on later cars? BIG headache area)
Then again, if you want a hobby and don't care about time/money you spend, go ahead. Just keep in mind when you sell it, you'll NEVER recoup your investment.
