I'm getting the AFS pot fault code, and inspected it to find that the PO has messed w/ the trim screw. I'm attempting to get the voltage output in spec, but I'm having no luck. I turn the screw and it doesn't change anything.

Can I replace the AFS pot, or do I need a whole new air-flow sensor assembly?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

I have a 1988 model 90 with CIS-E III and had the same problem. As far as I know, you cannot replace just the pot. I took mine off by fliping off the black covers and taking the screws out. You can adjust the position as the screw holes are slotted. This changes the readings. I moved mine and readjusted the setting screw, trying everything to get rid of the fault code. I even stuck some resistors in parallel with the connector to simulate at good reading to the computer, with no luck.

I messed with this pot for years and still occasionally got the fault code. Believe it or not what finally solved the problem was removing the push rod on the supplemental vacuum pump for the power brake unit.

Don't ask me why, it solve it. It could have had something to do with the vacuum pump pulling too quickly and causing some reaction to the air flow plate. In either case it is fixed and I have not messed with it or had a fault code since.
