Default Automatic Transmission fluid level check.

Checked my transmission fluid this weekend after changing the filter.

Tha car appears to have been about 1.5 liters low out of 7 liters. Transmission is a 4HP18 (Zif 4 speed) with the new fill/check hole in the side of the transmission fluid pan.

I'm guessing the guy that touched this before me wasn't running the engine when he topped off the fluid.

I topped it off with the fluid temp at 40 degrees C (as per manual) and with the engine at idle, tranny in Park, heating and AC off.

What do you guys think?

Default I think I want a rocket-powered pig, too.

That, and sounds like you did good with the ATF.

Default Pigboats are nice, more room to work on things than an A4 or new A6 (I think). I read for a timing

belt change you need to remove the front bumper an the new A6. I imagine it's fun on an A4.

Thanks for the opinion on the ATF fill. I'm pretty sure only Audi has worked on the car. Of course since I do this "so often" if things aren't right the first thing I suspect is me, not the Audi mechanics. ;-)

Default Sounds like the Corrado VR6, to do the timing belt on that car..

..you have to pull the transmission(yes, I know it's on the opposite side of the motor). Something to do with having to loosen and tilt the motor to gain full access to the belt. I know what you mean, though; I do all my own work, and I'm always second-guessing myself until the car fires up and everyting works properly again.
