CD Changer (Alpine?) for Delta Radio
Hi all,
As we all know there is no aftermarket solution for all of us wanting CD Changers in our cars with the Delta radio, but why? $650-$750 (after install kit, etc) is outrageous from Audi, and I've heard varied results from people buying used ones (they do wear out from excessive use). I know Blitzsafe (www.blitzsafe.com) was going to make one but never did. Does anybody know if there is some technical reason for this, it's been done for other makes of cars utilizing the Alpine changers, and for new Audi's (utilizing the Panasonic changers), but why not the Delta radio?
Anyone have an explanation?
TIA,
Ryan
BTW - If you do connect a regular Alpine M-Bus changer (CHM-S620) to the connector in the trunk (boot), it does power the unit, but will not recognize that there's one there.

Re: CD Changer (Alpine?) for Delta Radio
I don't know about aftermarket, but the factory CD players are starting to drop in price for the older ones. Park Place Audi in Dallas has an October special for the Delta compatible CD player (I too have a 96 A6Q) for $350.
We decided not to get it (have other things to buy), but you might give them a call to see if they still have some.

I just might do that, here in Denver both of our bigger Audi dealers are still demanding an arm and a leg...and then some.
Thanks for the info.

Re: CD Changer (Alpine?) for Delta Radio - Follow Up
Unfortunatly Park Place Audi pulled a bait and switch. I had talked with them (one e-mail, one phone call) and they said "The changer for a '96 A6 (I specified the part # 4D0-035-111) is on sale for $350"...until it was time to order...then the price *magically* was $595 again. Go figure... Anyone else know of any places selling them new for cheaper? Clairs has it for $529...that's still a little steep.

Ryan
