Default Headlight wiring

I am attempting to wire in a headlight flasher into my '91 Audi 200. Does anyone know if the wiring for the headlights run from (switch->left light->right) light in one wire or does the switch for the high beams run to each light?
The flasher requires the unit be placed between the wire running from one headlight to the other to use switched power to alternate from light to light through the unit. If this vehicle has a interconnecting high beam wire, which wire is the high beam wire?
Thank you.

Default On my 80/90's.....

...it's one wire from the switch into the fuse box. Inside the fuse box it "splits" into two wires that go through the approrate fuse and then out to each headlight. I suppose that your car would be the same but then again.....I don't know!!

From what you describe it sounds like you could hook this up at the fuse box. Figure out which "side" of the fuse goes to the headlights (and which comes from the switch) and hook it up accordingly!! It wouldn't take much wire to hook up to the adjacent fuses!! That would actually be pretty easy!!

HTH!!

Actually, I spent the better part of my life as one thank you very much. But now I am a Firefighter/Medical Tech for a rescue squad and require emergency lighting for my vehicle(as REQUIRED by law)

So as I understood your comment, the fusebox has 2 wires to the different fuses for each headlight. What is the easiest way of getting the fusebox up to analyze this and install the additional wire? Thanks.

Default I would just "hack" in at the.....

....fuse. If you look around you can find small electrical connectors that go on one "leg" of the fuse. When you push the fuse into its slot it leaves a small spade connector on the outside of the fuse that you can use to hook wires up to. (I have some of these but I don't remember where I got them)

NOTE: I'm assuming you want your high beams to flash!!

I would suggest you get out your owners manual and see which TWO fuses are for your high beams. Then hook the above electrical connectors up to each high beam fuse. (I wouldn't worry about finding the "live" side of the fuse, as I said in my first message, it's not necessary) Then use these "connectors" as your splices into the headlight wiring.

It should be really simple to install. (If I'm understanding you on how your system works....I've never even seen one of these myself!!)

HTH....Good Luck!!
