Hello. I can't find any information in my owner's manual about a number which appears for a second when I check the fuel economy with my trip computer. Mysteriously, it appears only occasionally. It is usually a number like 10.8 or 9.6, which then disappears, and my fuel economy then appears for the remainder of the time. I can make a guess that this number tells me the number of gallons used to compute the fuel economy, but that doesn't appear to be the case. Anyone have a clue? Thanks, Michael.

It doesn't seem to be an instantaneous MPG reading, but that is a possibility. I thought that it was just a glitch in the computer. I have tried to make it appear consistently, but it won't.

I had the same thing on my previous car (87 5KCSQ). I believe that number could be the metric gas consumption which typically is measured in liters per 100 kilometers. For example: 9.6 L/100km (to use your example) would be about 24.6 miles/gal.
