Honda S2000 not the world's most hp/L engine?

If I remember correctly, the prev. generation Nissan Skyline had only 2.0L displacement, with a 280hp output, making it 140 hp/L. S2000 is only 120hp/L. (2.0L engine, 240hp output)
forgive me if the prev. gen. skyline was forced induction, I just can't seem to recall.
Thanks for listening

The world's most hp/L thing completely mess with the S2000's reliability and durability. I talked to my friend whose classmate brought an S2000 in October with 3000 km on the clock to date, the car starts to stress out cause of the over 8000 rpm for most of the time to get out the most of the engine. My friend told me the car feels breathless after the first 3000 km which unacceptable in Honda's usual reliability fashion. No so surprise why Honda's maintenance charge is usually higher than most cars!
His friend is going to order a TT Roadster in order to trade that "tired" S2000 in. What my friend says "my brother's Prelude SH still feels strong despite the VTEC engine, I even heard the Integra GS-R and Type-R's powertrains are more durable than the S2000 is".
The most hp/L doesn't mean its a reliable engine even though its energetic at certain rpm, now I really love European's philosophy on torque is more important than real hp cause its more durable to the engine and better use for day-to-day range.
Sorry for off-topic but its a good topic to discuss on high hp/L reflects on reliability/durability

That's about 103hp per liter. Not quite up to Honda's specs, but at least an M3 doesn't need to hit 8000 rpms to reach it's hp/torque peak level. It's unfortunate that BMW's Dual VANOS system hasn't seen American shores until rescently with the release of the M5 (which puts out 100hp per liter - 4.0L V8 @ 400hp)
I love reading how so many Honda enthusiasts brag about having the most hp per liter with cars like the TypeR which has a 1.9l engine and puts out 190hp. M3s in europe also do that, but with 6 cylinders. 3.2L Inline 6 cylinder @ 321hp. Not to mash Honda, but VTEC and Variable Valve Timing isn't Honda-Exclusive.
Just my thoughts...

A)Ratory engines don't count
B)Motorcycles have no torque ( I know, not really on topic)
C)Turbos/Superchargers?Nitrous etc.. don't count
But, saying all that, the S2000 is still no the most powerful per litre normally aspirated engine. Check ou the Caterham , and I quato (from EVO mag):
'The generally accepted ceiling on the output of the 1.8-litre K is around 190bhp. For racing where driveability is less of an issue, the figure is maybe 25bhp higher. Without the aid of a turbo or supercharger, the R500 deliver 230bhp at 8600rpm. That's 40bhp more, which gives 128bhp per litre, vastly more than any Honda VTEC, including S2000'
check it out at www.caterham.co.uk --> Articles --> EVO magazine
And it's British!
Cheers
