maybe a vacum tube on the brakes. is broken?

had a vacuum tube break...
the brakes seem like stepping on really really dense sponge and you need to literally stand on the pedal for emergency breaking. Still drivable... just keep your distance and brake early, but get it checked out asap...
when the vacuum hose was broken on mine, the engine would idle rough...
hope that helps.

well, there's a story in it...
a good friend of mine (a mechanic) found the leak on a tube, so he changed it, for about $20 if i remember, just a small peice of tubing and labor. The peice was right next to the engine and easily accessible.
After a week or so, the problem came back, so took it to a brake shop. they did a free inspection and changed another peice of rubber tubing that was ripped for free. So no charge on the second time.
