Default Pressure Bleeding

I am going to replace the clutch master cylinder aand the Bentley says to pressure bleed the system to 35 psi.

How exactly do I do this? I have seen pressure bleeders for $100 or so, but this seems like something that can be fabricated (mason jar, puch two holes in lid, couple of fittings and tubes, plus a pressure source -- like a tire inflator) Has anyone tried this before?

Anything to look out for in doing this job.

Thanks,

-- Tom

Not nessessary. "Old fashioned" bleeding method will do fine.

Default Get the Motive pressure bleeder (more)

You can buy this at Bavarian Autosport and from Motive directly. It's pretty neat- you pump it up to a desired pressure, then let it out to bleed. You have a separate reservoir for the fluid, so you don't worry about running out of fluid. As you may tell, I haven't used it, even though I have one at home sitting on a shelf.

Worth the $40- I've talked to several people who have used it with great success on Audis.

Default done it your way

I've done what you propose more or less. drilled a hole in a cap that would fit on the reservoir, put a schraeder valve in and pumped up like 15 psi. works fine. cant remember exactly where I got the valve. have used the same valve screwed into an sliced up inner tube, clamped to intake ductwork, intercoolers etc to check for leaks also.
