Default Q: clutch 'throw-out' bearing'?

Hi guys, I need some advise.

When I press my clutch pedal, there's an odd sound coming from the front, when release it's gone, I suppose the sound is coming from the bad 'throw-out bearing'. The clutch is still good although it's original at 139k miles.

My question, is anything bad going to happen if I continously drive with (the) bad bearing? eg failure to engage gear?

thanks for the advise.

Sorry,

do you mean, replacing the clutch (clutch plate, disk, throw-out bearing etc) or just the throw-out bearing?. With a tight budget like mine, it is advisable to replace all?

I think I can have more miles with this clutch before I need to replace it? Thanks again for your input.

Default Most of the money is in just getting to it...

just for labor, so I wouldn't just replace part. You might get by without changing the pressure plate if you have not worn down to the rivits, but your going to have to get it apart before you know for sure.

Default You need to have it looked at!

Its very difficult to judge a components health
without visually inspecting the components.

The throw-out bearing is a "major" component on the clutch system! There is a reason its making noise! To let you know some thing is wrong! You can never tell exactly what is wrong until you can get a good look at the entire clutch system!
Could be your slave cylinder is bad?

Because of the time and effort involved in just getting to the TO bearing, its "advisable" to
replace the entire clutch assembly. However,
an experienced mechanic can visually inspect all
the clutch components, and determine if certain components can be re-used or not. A "risky" call to make because of warranty issues on workmanship!
Most "reputable" places replace it all!

If you are so inclined, just keep driving the car
until the clutch no longer operates. Then you will "HAVE TO" get it fixed.

Pay now, or pay later, your choice.

Later may cost you more though.

Default Once you open up the clutch housing, the labor involoved is....

so major, that you might as well replace the clutch and T.O. bearing. But you may be able to safely postpone that job for many miles. I am not aware of any reason you cant keep on driving as is until someting forces the issue. Plus, any life left on your current clutvch is wasted when you replace it.
