They have the wrong offset, but I think that they would fit on the newer bodystyle anyway. Just check first to be sure. You can get the factory ones from an A4 or an A6, they are the same wheel. It will look just like a 95-97 A6 :-)

16" wheels and decent tires really improve the handling without sacrificing the ride. 15" wheels would be a little better in the snow, but the 16's are not too bad. The 16's also look more in scale with the rest of the car.

If you can find 17x7 ET45 then I don't see any problems, but 17" wheels are usually a lot wider. Lowering will actually make it more difficult to fit wheels under the car, but not by much. Ask Gary@Ronal what wheels will fit your car.
