Starting problem
My 93 Audi 100 requires 5-10 sec of cranking before it starts up. If I crank the starter for 2-3 seconds and start again, it fires up immediately. Same situation for cold and hot start.
Any suggestions on where should I look for the cause?<p>Frank

Insufficient residual fuel pressure in fuel rail. Check the fuel pump check valve, or.....more
there also could be an injector which leaks when it is closed, or the fuel pressure regulator has a leak.

Starting problem only when engine hot - any suggestions?
1990 90q 20v idles and runs fine; has new fuel pump, plugs clean. When engine is hot cranks but doesn't catch. Will start after cool-down of 5-45 minutes.

Also, as stupid as this may sound, on my 944 the air tube after the throttle body had worked slightly loose. This caused extremely dificult hot starts and overheating at idle. (mixture was too lean) This is probably NOT your problem, but it is an easy fix if it is????????
