Default I bet Quattro will allow us to drive on water... :)
One of the main reasons the cone filter works better than the airbox is because it is much less restrictive. Also, as beep-beep proved, the air when your car is moving (and using the most air during combustion) inside the engine compartment is nearly as cool as that outside.

Default Isn't there insulation that can be wrapped around exhaust pipes?
I think I've seen them for turbo applications...

Yep...Header Wrap...guaranteed to hold heat in and crack your expensive header or turbo downpipe!

the standard panel filter is also an airflow restriction, not just the box
