Thermostat Location on 1990 90 Quattro 20V?

Default Thermostat Location on 1990 90 Quattro 20V?
the temperature guage and theoverheaating light have been erratic, plus the car doesn't heat properly. I am assuming this is the thermostat (or else the temperature switch). I bought a new one, but was unable to locate the old, where is the thermostat located in this car?
