Watch Out For Sudden Acceleration

As an enthusiast, I am informed enough to know the 60 minutes 5000 story was BS (The harder I braked, the faster it went! It's a demon car!) I also know that every car has unintended accelleration reported to FTSB. Audi actually had a smaller percentage of reports than Pontiac (GM does spend more advertising at CBS, so they're clear). Well, here is my unintended accelleration story.
My wife and I were driving our '96 A6Q on a state highway. I punched it to pass another car, and the throttles stayed full open after I stopped. I braked hard, and could tell that I could slow the car down, but it wouldn't be easy. I pumped the gas and, took my foot off, and the car resumed normal operation. We were quite concerned.
The cause? We stopped at a gas station and I discovered that the floor mat had doubled an edge and wedged between the gas pedal and the floorboard wall, holding the pedal down when my foot lifted. So my advice is to make sure your floor mats are on the hooks.
