I thought about it as a good dual-purpose car. A back seat for the kids, but a super-balanced RWD..
... platform.
It might just be the successor to the current crop of track beaters (3 series and old 944s).
The problem for me was surprisingly poor fuel efficiency, and general insecurity about the rotary engine long term. I also feel that for the money, it should have another 50 horsepower. I'm a little disappointed that Mazda hasn't been able to get more power+efficiency out of the engine.
