Looking out into early November to the Quattrofest HPDE weekend of open lapping in Portland International and contemplating replacing some ContiSportContact stock tires on my FWD track toy. I want to get them now to run on them for a month before tracking.
I purchased some Falken Azenis Sport RT-215s for dry and "damp" track days. But Quattrofest looks to be wet, messy, and slick (due to silt from the infield).
I'm kicking these around:
Summer max performance with reasonable wet ratings:
Toyo Proxes T1-S
Yokohama AVS ES100
Kumho MX
All-weather ultra performance:
Toyo Proxes 4
Pirelli P-Zero Nero M+S
Sumitomo HTR+
Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated. I don't trust my stock Continentals.
If I get summer tires, I'll probably wind up buying a winter setup as well. If all-seasons, they'll run all year and get swapped for the track treads as needed. For me that advantage of the summer tire approach is that they'll hold up better if the track dries out.
Size is 215/45-17; car weighs about 2900 fully loaded; FWD 60/40 distribution
Application is strictly *recreational* lapping.

Not sure how they track when wet, but I know that a bunch of people run them when it rains without complaint.
