Thanks. I really meant 96+ with the 3.2L engine.

Default right on....

...the 3.2 cars make better street drivers since they have more torque, and below 4.5k rpm, the torque difference is noticable...

the 95's (obd1) are more responsive to engine mods

good luck!

Default Here's prospect #1. Any opinions?

I'll of course have an independent shop take a look, but the dealer/salesman seems to know his M3's. Prospect #2 is a stock 97 M3 coupe, same color with 70k miles. A little cheaper than #1, but I like the mods on this one.<ul><li><a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&amp;item=2494140256&amp;rd= 1&amp;sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT">97 M3</a></li></ul>

Default hard to tell from the add....

...17,900 seems a bit high for a 95k mile car...bbs rk's are good/light wheels, but worthless (for track) if they are staggered widths, they are probably 17x8 all around...i wouldnt pay extra for mods, imo, they dont add value to the car...

check em both out if you can...i personally dont like to buy a modded car unless its lightly modded and the mods are things i would end up doing anyway....

Default Passed on #1 & 2. Put a deposit on this one...

Going to check it out next week and have a local BMW dealer give it the once over. Would have prefered silver, but the price ($16k) &amp; location (relatively local) was right. Decided to stick with stock for now and just add a roll bar, seats &amp; harnesses this winter. I'll also be doing some minor suspension &amp; brake mods. According to the guys that track the M3, it is more track ready in stock form than the S4. I assumed incorrectly that I would have to upgrade the suspension &amp; brakes right out of the box like I did for the S4. I can always upgrade the suspension once I get comfortable in the car.<ul><li><a href="http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=165418329&amp;dealer_id=17197238&am p;car_year=1998&amp;make=BMW&amp;distance=25&amp;m ax_price=&amp;model=M3&amp;advcd_on=n&amp;end_year =1998&amp;min_price=&amp;certified=n&amp;address=1 521

Default sweet, i hope that one works out for you!

...and yes, a stock e36 m3 is far more track ready than a stock s4...the stock suspension is fine and all the brakes need are good pads and fluid (lots of club racers keep the stock brakes on m3's because they work well)

my cage and seats are going in after the bmw vir event in november, woohoo...
