Default GT2 Class to be well representated at Winter Test

GT2 CLASS TO BE WELL REPRESENTED
AT AMERICAN LE MANS SERIES WINTER TEST

Braselton, Ga. - In what is sure to be an eye-opening three days, a number of new GT2 entries to the American Le Mans Series are confirmed participants in the Series' second annual Winter Test at Sebring International Raceway later this month.

Team PTG will mark its return to the Series with a pair of BMW M3s at the three-day test session, scheduled for Jan. 23-25, in preparation for the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring. It will be the first appearance at an American Le Mans Series event for BMW since the 2003 Petit Le Mans.

Two Panoz Esperantes are scheduled to be at the Winter Test: one from Multimatic Motorsports Team Panoz, the other from Team LNT in Europe. They will be joined by two Porsche 911 GT3 RSRs from Flying Lizard Motorsports.

Team PTG and BMW announced their return to the American Le Mans Series in November. The two-car team will run the full 2006 season in the new GT2S class, a category created by IMSA to allow sedan-style cars into the Series. GT2S cars like the BMW M3 will be classified during races with GT2 entries and will compete for points and podium positions.

This will be the first test for Multimatic Motorsports Team Panoz since November's announcement that it is taking over the development and performance of the Panoz Esperante GTLM from the Panoz factory. The team will campaign two Panoz Esperantes for the full 2006 season in GT2.

In addition to the Winter Test, Team LNT will enter two Panoz Esperantes in Sebring's 12-hour endurance classic. The England-based company reached an agreement with Elan Motorsport Technologies in August to field the cars in select GT championships in Europe and North America.

Flying Lizard announced earlier this week that it will return to the Series with the same package as 2005 - two Porsches along with drivers Johannes van Overbeek, Jon Fogarty, Seth Neiman, Lonnie Pechnik and Darren Law.

Test sessions are scheduled from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day with American Le Mans Series cars slated to be on the track from 9-10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. and 3-6 p.m.

Between 13-15 teams are expected to appear at the Sebring Winter Test, with additional announcements to come.
