Default Hey Warren...local BMW club racer is selling his E30 M3...Jstock class

Should I consider it...or am I better off with the E30 325i (in case the engine blows). I wanna take the audi on the track less...because I want to push the envelope a bit more.

Man, that E30 engine, is going to be super expensive. I've heard 5 figures.

Default from what I hear...

you can get the same kind of speed with some selective modifications to the 325i... you lose the high-revving character of the S14, but around here (new england) the K-prepared E30s are pretty competitive with J-stock M3s. I've been trying to make the same decision; I've been doing lots of track events with my daily E30 325is. I've looked at getting an E30 M3 for track stuff, but I hear too many stories of grenading engines, and they're quite expensive to rebuild/replace.

Another good alternative, if you can find one, is a european model e30 323i. The shell is apparently lighter to the tune of several hundred pounds, and they're great candidates for M50 engine transplants (E36 325i 24v vanos)

Default closer to 6-7K!!

Most E30 engines are going to be closer to 6-7K. Korman, Dinan, ERT, and Turner all charge about $5500 plus a few other upgrades that most people end up getting that runs the bill to well over 6K.

If you want to upgrade to Euro 2.5 Evo specs you are going to be looking at 7-8K at most of these places.

Actually not that bad when you consider what the E28/E34 M5 engine runs (10-12K). My engone rebuild ended up costing more than my M5 was worth.

Regards,

Jon C.

Default very nice...

did you buy it already built, or did you put it together yourself?

Also (just curious), are you thinking about Mark Dadgar's car? (link below)

http://www.pdc-racing.net/m3forsale.html</a

Default Sig quote

not trying to blame you, attack you or anything ... but I wonder if Peter actually is speaking from experience or not....

if he isn't, it's not quite as funny, in my opinion...
