I assume the most hill climb action would be in the rockies or maybe NH or VT.
NASA-Southeast of all groups has a few hillclimbs scheduled each year in the Carolinas. I haven't looked into it since it doesn't interest me but I think you need to have a race prepared car to enter.
This reminds me of a quote from Michele Mouton, an Audi factory driver in the 80s. She said something like "If these guys had any ***** they'd race DOWN this mountain" after a Pikes Peak race.
Here's a pic from the NASA 'course'.<ul><li><a href="http://www.nasa-southeast.com/2005Jun24/event.shtml">http://www.nasa-southeast.com/2005Jun24/event.shtml</a</li></ul>

Shameless plug - I have the fastest Audi time at the last VC Hillclimb the Audi club ran.

Suppose it still could be, but it's listed on both the Ferrari and VC Event Calendars for 2005.<ul><li><a href="http://www.virginiacity-nv.com/calendarofevents/calendarofevents.htm">Virginia City Event Calendar</a></li></ul>

Killed both passenger and driver instantly. That is the main reason why the Audi club no longer sponsors that event.
So yes, very dangerous. Everyone should have a full cage.

I've got a buddy who is building an sr20 (w/ turbo) powered 325i for the VT events. I think I'll be up at the first one at Okemo as pit support.
Check out the website for in-car vids. It doesn't appear too safe to me...rollcage is a must-have.
