Default John/TSR. Boothill Speedway has a new winner.

Man I figured out my car for that track and I kicked there a$$ Saturday. That is the track where the best guys in the state run. Got the cam timing and the carb jetted perfect. I was running third and got freight trained back to fifth. Track was dry and extemely slick. Got pissed and took it waaaaaaay tooooooo deeeeeeep into the corner and it stuck like glue to the track. SURPRISE. So I did it every corner for the rest of the race. I was going ten to twelve car lenghths deeper into the corner than everyone else. One car spun out in front of me and I passed the rest with the old slide job and the rest is history. State Championships are in two weeks there. They had better get busy engraving my name on that trophy.

Hope you had fun at Mosport.

Default Yes we are.

The Fox body Mustangs have been dominant this year. That is until last Saturday night. Everyone in this area thinks the Pinto is dead as far as dirt ovals are concerned. They are dead as road cars. But I showed them guys how it is done. I am the only Pinto to win a feature at Boothill this year. And what really kills them is they have 5 to 7 thousand dollars in their motors, I only have 3500 in the whole car. That's cage, seat, belts, and the whole nine yards. They run strokers with mini clutches. I have a stock crank, rods and clutch. Just a good port and polish job on the head is all I need and I'll make it run with the best.

Sorry abut rambling on, but I'm pumped! It took me six seasons to finally pull off a win there. I've won so many races at the other tracks that they don't interest me anymore. I guess I can retire now. Or move up to IMCA modifieds.

Default All those Mustangs discovered.....

...that it's the driver and setup, not the snazzy doodads and trick graphics, that go fast. Congrats - have a big bucket of mudbugs and a pitcher of beer, and just imagine that I bought the beer (well....I would have....but I haven't been in Shrevepatch in about 6 years).

Just like you, I usually have those eye-opening moments of discovery (your deeper dive into the corner, for example) during moments of desperation, aggravation or just stupidity. "Whoa**** !! - I got in waaaay too fast and deep and IT STUCK !!! - I gotta do that again !!!!"

Had a few moments like that myself this weekend at Mosport. Most people brake too much for T3, and I was rocketboy thru there, except about every 25 laps or so.....it IS faster than most people think, but NOT as fast as I thought it was, about once every 25 laps. Nothing like a 110mph tire-howling slide to get your sphincter all puckered.

Pulled the same sort of slide pass that you mentioned in Moss Corner on the last lap to retake a position, then planted my wide fat *** right on the inside so he couldn't come back. Drove real wide up the damn hill and even wider in T8, 9 &10 to keep the bastard stuck behind me. I'm still laughing (I can't believe that he left the door cracked open for me on the last lap !!! What was he thinking ????).

Keep the damn Pinto up front - and re-post a picture of it, so all the A4'er know what a real race car looks like.
