Anyone know if one of these GPS runners lap recorder watches would work at a DE? Seems possible if the speed range goes high enough.

meaning... if you run a 2:20 at VIR with it and try to compare it to times of other devices, I wouldn't trust the differences. But, if you run another session and your best time with it is 2:19, you're a second quicker. However, I wouldn't say that I ran a 2:19 namely because I've seen GPS units calculating different speeds than the speedo is telling me. Sure, there's going to be +/- for different tires/tread, but if you're running OEM size tires, it should read the same -- and it doesn't, but it's consistently off.

I wouldn't use it for official times, but it would be a good tool to use for what it's worth.

Why are you looking to "time" at a DE?

Open track day is one thing.

Video is approximate enough for lap times......
