Default Trust me...

...Whacking the wall hard wasn't real high on my "must do" list for the weekend. As I was headed backwards toward the wall at about 70mph, I was thinking "boy, I'm glad I spent the money on the HANS device" and "this will screw up my Saturday afternoon drinking and carousing plans". Thanks for the help putting it all back together.

No EMRA ? You're no fun. Are you going to come out and heckle for the enduro ? We're sharing pits with Charlie/Entropy and the Mustang Magic-PDA guys, so there will be free entertainment, as well as food off the grill. We have a new strategy this year...John WON'T put the Nissan into a gravel trap on the first lap. Sounds like a winner, huh ?

Default EMRA, walls, and safety devices

Yeah, the wall at Lowes scared the crap out of me. Especially when it's getting closer and going REALLY fast from right to left.

I'm gonna get either a HANS device or an ISAAC device, depending on the testing. I have a racer buddy that is trying out the ISAAC this weekend. It did quite well in the sled tests, and should also provide quite a bit of help on side impacts. It is a bit odd looking, and requires an extra second to get out.

As for the EMRA event, I should be there to hang out and maybe even actually help out in some way. But you know, I suck as crew, which is probably why you got me driving :P

edit: added link for ISAAC device

Default No 24 Hour this year...

CFR isn't doing one this winter. I hear they're looking for a new venue, as the costs for the 24 Hour weekend at Moroso exceeded the income. Not a good financial model.

It looks like the next 24 will be in winter 2003/2004. Not real disappointed, as the logistics of doing a 24 hour race 1300 miles away from homebase are a nightmare, and we could use a year off. I might just do both the Sebring Nat'l and the Moroso Nat'l in January, as last year I blew off the Moroso Nat'l 'cuz I was sick of seeing the place.

Good luck this weekend. Don't hit nothin, but stop by my little dent in the Armco between Turns 6a and 7 and have a beer in my honor.

Default That was no little dent ....

Man, you popped it good ... what were you driving, a Hummer??

We had/are having many beers in your honor. It's dang chilly up here this weekend.

Testing went well ... looking forward to tomorrow. Now, where's that steak place in beautiful downtown Danville?

Thanks for the 24 info .. I was afraid of that.

I almost wet myself when I ran into it at AMS.
