NASA GTS Challenge gurus: I hear that there is one Mercedes running in the series...

Mercedes are raced in europe and are competitive. We face the same problem with Audi's racing in the USA. Aside from a few pro teams there are virtually no club racing audi's.
And I mean wheel to wheel racing. Not time trialing.
Its a shame when you compare or consider the BMW CCA. Any given weekend there are 35-40 club cars at a club race.
Why cant we see that with Audi owners? Are they just not hard core enough?
The cars are reliable, competitive and relatively in expensive to own and run.
B5's make great track cars be it a A4 or S4.
What are we missing guys?<ul><li><a href="http://www.gmgracing.com">http://www.gmgracing.com</a</li></ul>

Istook sold his S4....Babcock still has his S4...and runs in the One Lap I think. AMS/Intrax sold their A4..or ..(one blue car..one yellow car). Corey and Sharon's has their sitting in some garage in Santa Rosa (THWAP). I dont know where the one Donny Edwards drove in USTCC...fell in a sink hole? Ivor at Total Audi Performance probably sold his Rally A4. I think they are garage queens now.

Look at GTS Challenge. It COULD be a precursor to an Audi-only club racing program; but even there you have a severe shortage of racers building Audis.
Maybe a combined Audi/VW club could pull it off.

For quite a while... we were simply faced with not knowing where else to run, besides the One Lap of America. We ran the Open Track Challenge all three years, but that went away. Then Targa Newfoundland in 2004, but just getting to the starting line costs a fortune.
Audi NA never had much interest in supporting our efforts, and since it's an MTM car, we pretty much rely on Hoppen. Seems like most of the supporting vendors out there are APR shops. It's kind of a pickle.
So I'll go out on a limb and suggest that what's missing is support. If I go race a Mazda, Subaru, Dodge, or BMW... I'm much more likely get the support needed to get a competitive car to the starting line. Plus the fact that there's more R&D in the aftermarket for those marques, and the competition keeps the prices reasonable.
