Default Check with the roundy-round shops...

Call some local circle track suppliers - they'll know who the race fuel distributors are
in your area.

Sunoco and Union 76 make unleaded up to at least 108 octane. Expensive though....
figure on $3.50 to $4.75/gal depending on the amount you buy.

Now the bad news....it won't do anything for you....and might even cause you more
problems. Race fuel burns slower, which in a street engine can lead to higher engine
temps and occasionally a burned valve (fuel charge burning for a greater % of the valve
opening cycle). Most race engines have very aggressive ignition timing, so the longer
burn is OK. Emission control systems don't give you any lattitude in a street motor, so you can't reap the benefit of more timing. Many race cars with cats run a mix of unleaded
race fuel (104-110 octane) and pump unleaded, to get the most power (the cheap
stuff "flashes off" faster, but the additives in the rocket fuel keep detonation under
control). I have personal experience pouring this kind of stuff into a SCCA T1 Viper
race car, on the recommendation of the factory race guys.

Try some octane booster. It basically does the same thing, and it's a whole lot cheaper
and easier to find. Unless your gonna crank more timing into the motor (which will
annoy the computer, if you can do it at all), race fuel won't buy you anything.

Default Not really slowing, just careening sideways...

Out of the loop the last week - just reviewing the state of A4.org (hmm...
that changed too).

Race season over, but spent Sat & Sun instructing at a race school at
Sebring. The 1200 mile flight back home to the land of perma-frost always
sucks, so I'm gonna go do it again in January. Race season up here
won't restart until April. Ice Racing season, however, will start as soon
as we get 12" of ice on the lakes. Glad I've got a couple of sets of
Menards Cam-Am tires ready...yeeehaaaaaaa
