Default Road Atlanta Speed Wolrd Challenge race

Did anyone notice that with all the changes the SCCA made to the Audi RS6s - they qualified 13 and 15 (or something like that) for tomorrow's race......

So much for another manufacturers championship! Looks like they're doing everything they can to give it to cadillac.

http://www.speedvisionwc.com/news/04press142.html</a

Any reason why Randy PObst was driving a S4?

I assume since Cadillac entered an extra driver for points, they threw Pobst into the S4 for a 3rd car?

but those rules changes are a little stiff. every other car gets an advantage, but audi gets severly penalized.

Isn't this more than a little reminiscent of IMSA Trans-AM 88-89 and the weight penalties, tire sizes and engine de-tuning. Or am I the only one old enough to remember these types of series' equalizer moves?

Why watch any of this fantasy?

Default This is what's lame...

"Following the successes in the preceding races, the series organisers implemented various restrictions on the Audi RS 6 Competition. As a consequence, at Road Atlanta the RS 6 had less power in race-spec than the road car."

Default Re: GM has more $$ than Audi

It's a sad state of affiars that the race car winds up with less power than the street version. It's not a "competition adjustment," it's a gift to GM. that's why SCCA has so much trouble running professional racing.

Default strategy

the s4 had more power than the rs6 (but less handling ability)...it was pulling on the rs6s on the straights (like everything else). Pobst made up 15 or so (cant remember the number) places starting from the back.
