1. Has BFG stepped up as a spec tire (R1) on any major race series?
2. Has anyone gotten any feedback on the Toyo 888 and whether it will replace the RA1 in their lineup?
3. Tying the two together, will the RA1 remain the tire for World Challenge, or will they switch to the 888? Or the BFG R1?

Thats true for all tires. Kuhmo, Falken, BFG, Michelin etc. can discontinue a tire at any time.
So long as RA-1s sell enough to make money, I imagine Toyo will keep selling them. And until the 888 is established, RA1s will sell.

WC Touring and GT sizes, American Iron (275 17's and 18's), and other spec sizes.
WC teams will be testing the 888's to gather data for the '09 season.

I can't wait to read some tests. The RA1 is such a popular and versatile tire.
The new Proxes R888 is a complement to the Proxes RA1 as Toyo continues to expand their line of ultra high performance, competition tires. The Proxes RA1 continues to be available for purchase and remains the "official tire" in several classes of SCCA competition. Toyo is working closely with the SCCA to incorporate the Proxes R888 in upcoming racing seasons and Steve Weinger, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Toyo, recently stated: "We are excited to introduce this new tire to the racing community and we look forward to it being well received on the track.
