Default He did my first rally car

A '73 Capri.. he did the cage and underbody protection. It was a bit out of his scope though. I had to take the car back to have him move the hoops over. He didn't grasp that there would be a co-driver, and put the hoop directly between the navigator's leg's.

Default Well, your Nav could have...

...just worn a 'cup'.

Picky, picky, picky.

Default Yeah...

Maynard wasn't all too happy to have to re-do it either. Then when he ground off the old welds, his tech ended up ruining the new windshield. All the spatter from the grinder etched the glass, and it had to be replaced.

Default That's because...

...nobody there has ever heard the word 'windshield'.

Har.

Default I 'flew' this car at close to 100

<img src="http://stoneroot.f7.net/flipped/slides/DSCN0801.JPG">

and flipped it a couple times before landing on my head -sigh (pic from another racers in-car, sorry about quality)

That cage for sure was a big part of me getting to be pissed and not hurt.

Just my pennies worth

I'll never cheap on safety gear..

Default

Wasn't there a 'fuel spill issue' with that incident, too ?

Default yes

I hit the wall so hard as the car rotated.. that was the only really scary part - not that's not scary to go doing stupid acrobatics in a car, but the tank itself was completely fine. It was a line from the pump that cracked. I wouldn't have been so eager to go out the hot side had I not seen gas in a place it didn't belong.
