Took the plunge....A group of us just bought a 1984 Rabbit GTI for a project/track car

Last weekend I was watching the local NASA races at Sears Point, the last race of the day featured the Camaro-Mustang Challenge cars, the GTI Cup cars, and the Super Unlimited cars. The Super Unlimited cars consisted of 1 hyper-tweaked Porsche 993, a race prepped F355, and a Audi 4000 Quattro. Weather conditions, rainy, with several puddles on the drag strip portion of the track. You know all that rubber that gets laid down on drag strips? Slick as ice when wet. It was pretty impressive.
Anyway, the 3 race leaders were a 240Z (guess he was running solo in his class) way out ahead, chased by a pair of GTI's. The 3 of them were all lapping traffic in this 40 minute sprint race. Then, the 2 GTI's caught up to the F355 coming out of 8B, the GTI leader took the outside of 9, and the other GTI dove to the inside. It was beautiful, two GTI's sandwiching each side of this Italian prodigy. I wish I had my video camera on me, I would've if it weren't raining, but then that wouldn't have happened.
