Hmmm..
It'll be interesting to see the running weight of the car.
I'm sure getting rid of the DSC and all the gadgets has saved a ton of weight, but it's still a BIG car.
Power to weight ratio will be interesting, because those 911s aren't super heavy in comparison.

Ya, I thought of that too, but in reality the new RS6 has a big jump in HP with only around 400lb
increase in weight.
Here are the specs:
RS6 curb weight: 4024lbs.
Horsepower (SAE) 450 hp @ 5700 - 6400 rpm
Max. Torque 415 lbs. ft. @ 1950 - 5600 rpm
450hp:4024lbs = 0.11 stock power:weight ratio
2001 S4 curb weight: 3593 lbs
Horsepower (SAE Net): 250 @ 5800 RPM
Torque: 258 ft. lbs.@ 1850 RPM
250HP:3593lbs = 0.07 stock power:weight ratio
Assuming similar weight reductions are made and similar engine performance upgrades are made, then the RS6 has the advantage.
Anyone have the specs on the GT Championship Porsche's?

Re: Champion approached Randy at the 2002 yr-end banquet...
People laughed when Audi brought the V8 to the tarmac in 1990. Audi won the German Touring Car Championship in 90-92. We'll see... many more factory support this year in GT.

RS4 Competition != S4
It's not based off a normal S4. It's an RS4 Competition built in the UK, which is 400+ hp. It's probably also a whole helluva lot lighter than you might think. Don Istook posted how heavy his gutted Grand-Am car was, and I think it was like 2900 lbs or less. I forget.
If Audi is fully backing the project, then I'm sure they'll do well. Audi doesn't know how to race half-assed.
