Default =( This definately won't buff out. My A4 + Wife driving = Badly Curbed 25th Anniversary Wheel

So I let my wife drive the A4 today. This, as many of you know, puts me in a complete state of anxiety when she is out with it because she well to put it mildly, no I won't say it. Anyway, she had to run an errand in town and I needed her car, the Explorer, to pick up a dethatcher from the local equipment rental place.

Right before she left I said that I would wait to pick up the dethatcher until she got back so she could take the Explorer out and not have to drive the A4 but she said I was acting silly. So I let her go with the A4 and right before she left I said to her... "Be careful parking." because I knew where she was going she was going to curb side park "my wheels don't have the sidewall that your Explorer's wheels do". She goes on her way and what happens.... I'll let the pics speak for themselves.

Needless to say I am mildly depressed right now. GDawgA4, I feel your pain.

As you can see the wheel is missing metal from the lip, so much so that I am thinking of just making this my spare and getting another one to replace it. Problem is there aren't many of 25th Anniversary S4 wheels out there on the used market so I may have to get a new one which won't be cheap. =(((

What do you all think? Is it repairable? I think even if it is repaired that it is still going to be missing metal and the paint may or may not match.

The tire is missing a large chunk from the sidewall so that will need to get replaced. Hopefully the tire will hold up for a while so I don't have to lug the 16's up from the basement and mount those suckers up.

Needless to say it is going to be a loooong time before I'll hand over the Audi keys to her again.

Default And that is why my wife does not drive my car. Sorry to hear that man.

I have been known to take my Audi keys when I use her car just so she doesn't get any crazy ideas.

Hopefully you can hold this over her for some time to come.

I would think it is doomed to be a spare. Good luck finding a new one.

Default I would almost rather have had it be me that trashed the wheel than her.

That way I could just be pissed at myself and not her. As it is I am still pissed at myself for letting her drive it.

Default Do you think an Audi dealer would be my best bet for sourcing a replacement?

Clairparts doesn't sell them but you got to think that the dealer could call AOA and track one down. Either way my wallet is going to get lighter.

Default My advice...

...is to get an opinion from a wheel repair place first, leave the tire as is unless it's so damaged that it's dangerous, then use this as a way to get what you need from your wife.

I don't care if it's a night out, a favor, whatever, use it. That's marriage, man. ;-)

Default I know, I know.

But I'd rather spend my money on things other than new tires and repairing or replacing a wheel.

See you tomorrow.
