ORIGINAL POST below:

Any interest in doing your own T-belt with some AW with the special Audi tools needed for the job?

You'll need to order your own "kit" which most of the Audi/VW shops will have.

Follow this thread for info, time, DATE and location TBA.

<<If another Aug date works for you suggest it in your "Subject" line>>

Default Oooh. So would there be any guidance/help from someone who has done a 1.8T TB before?

Or would it be just a bunch of 1.8T owners who are taking a stab at changing the TB for the first time =P

I'm at 71k and am waiting for 75k to roll around and do the TB with a shop. But if I can just order a kit online and do it this way, I'd save about $800 in labor.

Default second. I need to do mine soon and was going to try and get some people

who have done it to assist/teach me at my fathers house. He has a lift in his garage and I would offer up food and adult beverages.

Default Probably don't need a lift unless you want to rip the entire front end off. The lock carrier will

just swing away to one side and you can work on the front of the engine.

Default perhaps but it is nice to get the car up high enough to where you are not bending

over all the time. I know it makes a world of difference when I need to work on the engine of my 911.

Default At the risk of letting the cat out of the bag...

...a local AW'er may be purchasing a 1.8t in the near future. As of this posting, belt change status is unknown.

Default Re: second. I need to do mine soon Aug 5? SUNDAY

IF you have access to a lift, would you consider doing in at your location & date?

As noted Aug 4 is the NAAC clinic Alternative dates?

If I was going some where, I'll bring the A4 on a trailer so I can bring it (or another one) home or to a shop if trouble was encountered..........
