neighbors hae a subaru. we were thinking pilot (based on odyssey chassis)

Default there are no advantages except ground clearance over the subaru in the snow

and the subaru would likely perform much better in snow, slush, ice, etc. You probably don't need the little bit of extra ground clearance. Honestly, the minivan with decent snow tires should be just fine.
