Most dealers make little money on new cars, more on used, and the gravy is in service (esp. out of warranty) I bet Audi of America is cheap on warranty reimbursement, prolly at a lower rate

That's the screwy thing about it and probably why clairparts.com is moving to a shipping only model with no local pick up allowed.
If you walk in the service door the part I needed is priced at $480, but if you walk in the parts door the same part is $336. Kind of annoying, isn't it?

techs are paid for every hour they work, no matter how many of those hours are billed. Add overhead (downtime, building, service managers, cashiers, health insurance, etc) and there's probably not that much left over.
