Just tell them you have metallic tint so the windshield one won't work. You can even drive through a few times w/the windshield one hidden somewhere as "proof" that it doesn't work.

For those who mounted behind the grill, is it still working at 30+mph? And yes I know the staties have hardons for those who blow through the right side lanes, therefore I only use the inside ones (except when it is bumper to bumper traffic )

here's a thought: just don't mount it... I keep mine in the door bin and pull it out when
needed. Just hold it up in the windshield and it works like normal. Like you, I can't stand to see the big white blob in the windshield all day...
