I think Clair Service seriously scratched up one of my 17" 5 spokers when they were mounting a new tire on it yesterday and to top it off they put the directional tire on the way so they have to redo it today.
Now granted the wheels, which are new to me, were slightly used when I got them but I am pretty sure that this wheel didn't have scratches on each of the 5 spokes about an inch from the tire before I brought it in. Each spoke now has a series of scratches. Aarrgh.
Could their mounting machine have done this? Man I should have taken pics of the wheel before I brought it in to get its new tire so I could prove to them that it was their fault and not mine.

I dunno why it's so hard to put tires on without putting scratches all along the sides, and the slots for the bolts.
Amazing.
I know tires can be put on without a scratch cause Audi doesn't scratch them up, and Edgeracing (which mounted my Toyo's on Flik's) didn't put a single scratch on them.
We need a list of places that can mount tires without raping the rims.

just had my rims/tires mounted last week.
They were good about point out the scratches and nicks in the rims before they mounted them. Very professional. Very happy.
Mount/Balance: $120.

... little annoying nicks on all the rims when they mounted all-seasons. Not a disaster, but they should (and can!) be more careful; I suspect they don't have a good wheel rig and/or a tech who's used to using it very much.
Otherwise, Clair Service has been fine.
