Another way to bypass Hartford from I84W is...
to take Rt5/15 (I think that's the number) just past the movie theaters in East Hartford. It shoots off on the left, and takes you around Hartford to I91S.

definitely the fastest way in my opinion, although there are a couple points along 15s where traffic can build up (New Haven and Greenich come to mind, also White plains, NY after it becomes the hutchinson river parkway) but none that could even come close to the mess that is 95
