Boston shop recommendation: Vinnie's Auto Sport (Cambridge)
There's not a lot of references to his shop in all the Boston threads, so I'd like to offer an endorsement for Vinnie's Auto Sport (not Vinny's). He's at 196 Monsignor O'Brien Hwy, Cambridge MA 02141. Located about a block from the Lechmere T-stop. 617-547-6169. VFrontinan (at) aol.com. (no website)
He saw me on short notice, and had very reasonable rates for some routine problems I was having. Didn't nickle-and-dime me, or suggest expensive "by the book OEM" repairs when non-OEM would do. Pointed out some potential upcoming problems, but didn't try to scare me into fixing them. Even showed me a vaccuum pipe that's in the process of collapsing, and said if I came back, he'd fix it for free. Cleared a ton of codes, no up-sell there either.
Good for routine stuff, and looks like he's equipped for performance mods too. His shop is a bit small, so don't plan on leaving your car for extended periods of time (no real parking lot, cars just sit on the curb outside the shop). Oh, and cash only (my kind of shop!)
Very nice guy too. He stopped mid-sentance while explaining the codes he cleared to drool at a GT-R that went blasting by. Big thumbs up for Vinnie
