you can easily verify this with an OBD2 reader. you won't need a VAG-COM necessarily. one of the OBD2 data parameters shows whether the fuel system is CLOSED or OPEN.
i imagine it's OPEN however it may still use long term fuel trims. i've seen this trend with some car manufacturers.

According to technical manuals, it is actually a mix. It uses long term fuel trim, and also takes feedback from TPS, Intake air temp, knock sensors, and the new LSU wideband/planar linear oxygen sensors used in new audi's.
