Default Is Framingham a decent place to live? Any advice/input appreciated.

I work in Worcester and currently live in a suburb just north of Boston. The commute is a b*tch.

I know I don't want to live in Worcester, so I'm thinking of getting an apartment in Framingham. I've driven through plenty, but I don't have any real familiarity with it.

Are there a decent number of twenty-somethings (like myself) around?

Is there any decent night life (bars mostly)?

What areas are nicer / Where should I stay away from when looking at places? I've heard that north of Rt 9 is generally nicer/safer/less ghetto.

TIA.

Default I live in Westborough- the next town over. The "borough's" are nicer for apt rentals

and closer to Worcester for nightlife. Boston is also only a 25 min drive. Framingham is OK but there are parts you want to avoid. Basically anything near the Commuter line is a little rough along 135. On the northern side of the tracks its pretty nice. There are tons of apartments for rent in my neighborhood that look really nice. Better for parking your car too.

Default Agreed about Framingham. South of RT135 is pretty seedy but North of Rt9 is a bit pricey

I live in Ashland, near the Southborough and Framingham lines. Quiet (perhaps too quiet) but easy access to Mass Pike, Route 9 and 495. Takes me about 25-35 minutes to get to Worcester along Route 9 (though I don't typically go during rush hour).

Otherwise, the metrowest paper is a good place to look for deals , as well as craigslist. If you'd like a hand, there is an agent that has been very good helping me rent my places out over the years... I could forward his number.

Link to craigslist ad

Default Thanks. I've found a couple of reasonably priced apartments north of Rt 9, so I'll probably check

them out soon.
