Default I think MA SP is using cars that have been seized as unmarked cars.

Usually, they just flag cars that are speeding and then have marked cruisers pursue and ticket.

Going to the magistrate *might* result in a reduction in your ticket, but probably not a dismissal (I had a $200 ticket knocked down to $50).

No direct visits to court these days - Magistrate first.

Default Teddy...Sorry to hear that you got tagged. The Staties were out in full force on 495 this morning.

I was on 495 this morning between Mansfield and the Pike and I saw 4 unmarked cars, all of which had victims pulled over. One was a darked blue Dodge Intrepid, one was a black Ford Explorer 2-door sport, one was a red Ford Taurus and the last was an unmarked Crown Vic. The first three cars looked like regular vehicles with no markings or antenas. It was also the last day of the month so it was probably quota day.

Default That can help..the actual trooper is not there..just a representative of the police

They will read the officers written report and you can dispute it..They cannot call you a liar, You might just get off or at least a reduction.
I know a lot of people who walked...
It's worth a try for sure
Points = $$ in MA
good luck

Default More Advice w/dealing w/unmarked cars: Don't Spray Them w/Your Washers!

They don't like that very much and it reduces your chances of talking your way out of a ticket.

Long story short:

Doing 80+ in a 55 at 6AM (Moderate traffic on I-95 in CT).

A car starts tailgaiting me in the third lane while I was in the process of passing someone in the middle lane (the car behind me also had a poorly aimed headlight that was blinding me).

A sprayed the guy behind me a couple of times to get him to back off.

I eventually get around the guy in the middle lane and as I move into the middle lane, the car behind me follows me and proceeds to put the hidden lights and siren on. OOOPS!

Busted by an unmarked Dodge Intrepid for "80+ in a 55".

$340. and 3 point later..........Arrrgh.

Default always go to court for clocked tickets....

i just got out of one in ri because the officer failed to bring proof of seedometer calibration in his car. the staties are normally more on point then that, but its worth it if you have the time to waste in court

Default If your time is worth less than $1500/hr, you should go to court

If your time is worth more than that, you probably wouldn't have gotten the ticket in the first place, since you probably own a significant portion of the police dept.

Default do you have to summon those proofs before court or just pop the question during?

you mentioned proof of calibration. is this something you have to send a written request to the police or they're just supposed to bring it?

Default wow, 495 at 5 pm, same Intrepid snagged a biker

I was coming up on 24, had just gotten off 495. My K40 front went beserk. Uniformed trooper in a snazzy black with black rims on an Intrepid.

I also saw two running laser in the Williams tunnel at 10 pm, had 5 cars pulled over. No marked cruiser was there either....

Teddy, was the trooper in uniform? If they are off duty, they will pull u over if u are swerving or doing 90+. But at 80ish, that is odd that you stood out and they busted you. A black van would be enough for me to back off a bit,,
