Default I got a quote for Timing Belt/waterpump job for $2,000.00

for my B6 A4 its a 3.0 V6 with 65K on the clock . How does the price look ? I have to do it pretty soon cause I'm leaking coolant through the pump . I have done a timing belt on my 1.8T TT but the V6 looks way harder and I really don't want to mess with it, but to save $2K I might attempt it.

Default If you've done the 1.8t you should be good to go on this. Just use the tools and...

...change the cam adjuster seals as part of the job.

Default The 3.0 is a whole different animal Tom.

Timing Belt replacement involves a lot, like removing the valve covers and inserting special tools on both banks to hold the camshafts in place, because the 3.0 uses engine oil filled cam adjusters that are integrated into the cam sprockets.

Unnecessarily complicated IMO.

Default Really? I would think that once someone tackles one Audi timing belt...

...it's a short leap to the next. The basic principles are the same. But then, I have yet to do a 30v. Sounds a lot like the V8.
