Default Has nothing to do with transponder availability

There are already the 9 billion people in New England who already have transponders to use who would benefit from the system.

Default Ordered mine online on Monday.

Transponder is only $5 and you have to give them another $30 for the account. They're supposed to shipping them out first week of July.

Default Don't get me started on NH...

Having grown up in NH, I am all too aware of the state's refusal to embrace technology and policy of stubbornness for the sake of stubbornness. Residents would rather keep the 2+ mile back ups at the Hampton tolls than give up the token discount.

It starts in Concord where the average age of the 400+ legislators seems to be something like 60+ (my grandmother used to be one and I think she did it for the free tolls the position was afforded). These codgers waste more time and energy dicking around with these no-brainer issues than one could possibly understand, thus leaving the state frozen in a 1950's-esque era.

God forbid change in that state. Exhibit 1: The temporary one way toll set up over the last two summers. Great idea that really worked! The response? Everyone will get off and clog Rt.1 to avoid tools, so let's not implement itâ€. People, Rt. 1 was already a mess. If people want to avoid paying $2 and add 20-30 mins to their commute to the seacoast, let them!

Ugh!

Rant off.

PS: NH, welcome to the 21st century. Stop complaining about tokens

Default Why not just get one from MA?

IIRC, MA gives MA Fastlane tag holders a discount on the tolls. It doesn't take very long before you've offset the cost of the transponder completely.

Default Well, the first Q asked at sign up is what state you reside in...

You would probably only want to do that if you are using more NH tolls than MA ones. Like Mirror|rorriM said, you get the benefits of your states system and those discounts for those tolls you use most often.
