Default Just got pulled over again in MA for equipment violations

Cop told me my modified exhaust was illegal and again with the clear corners. I told him about my recent ticket in Deerfield and told him I was in the process of getting it fixed. He let me go. Fvcking A... this is getting crazy.

Makes me want to sell this car and buy a freakin accord :-(

Default Borla, with test pipes

Only really loud when I'm accelerating or at WOT. Cruisin around it's not really that loud since it has 2 mufflers.

Regardless... modified exhaust is not illegal in MA. That bill hasn't been passed yet, to my knowledge. It's only a certain decible level over 300 ft or something. This cop didn't measure anything. Just made a blanket statement that my exhaust was modified and therefore illegal.

Default It's not in CT. Isn't that where you are from?

can't give you a ticket for laws that aren't in your state.

Default test pipes *are* illegal

I don't have a lot of sympathy for people who get pulled over for replacing/bypassing their cat. There's a very good reason they're required. Is 15 or whatever horsepower really worth polluting way more?

Default 1) I passed inspection like this 2) MA emissions don't apply to me

3) I was not ticketed for emissions I was ticked for a modified exhaust law that doesn't exist 4) prove to me that I pollute more than a Hummer H2 which get 7 miles to the gallon when I get 25 miles to the gallon.

Regardless of my actual violations are, it is unconstitutional to ticket out of state cars for MA equipment violations. I'm registered in CT, CT laws apply to me.

Default Yep, CT resident.

They can ticket me for whatever they want and they do. It wont hold up in court, but they bank on out of staters just paying the ticket. Easy revenue.

Default the law does exist... here:

and why would it be unconstitutional for a state to decide how to govern its own roads?

Also, catalytic converters are a *federal* law. It's illegal to run straight pipes on public roads anywhere in the country.

Oh, and yes, you've successfully modified your car so that you pollute more than a hummer. Cats reduce hydrocarbon emissions by 98%.

http://www.mass.gov/legis/laws/mgl/90-16.htm</a

Default Just because the law exists doesn't mean it's constitutional

A modified exhaust is legal in CT. MA can't inhibit interstate commerce by making it illegal for ANY car to have a stock exhaust.

Now I'm not arguing emissions laws, because that is federal. But again, I'm not being ticketed for that. If I had been I would simply accept it and move on. I'm angry because I can't drive through a freakin state without being pulled over and ticketed for laws which shouldn't or don't apply to me.
