Default Larz Anderson German Car Day 2007 - What a GREAT Father's Day event!!!

It was a great event! Looks like a GREAT turnout by the various German car owners, some really nice classics and some very rare new models as well!

Of course, here was the location, the Larz Anderson Museum of Transportation...
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/hliu55/GTG/Larz_2007.jpg">

I go one of the very last spots on the lawn, near the driveway in and out of the lawn area...
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/hliu55/GTG/Larz_2007_1.jpg">

The R8 was gorgeous, albeit the scratch on the hood from road debris and the color (not my first choice, but still a head-turner!)...

Oh wait...the door is open? Hmmm....would anybody miss it???
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/hliu55/GTG/Larz_2007_12.jpg">

It was actually very easy to climb in and out of the R8...I was suprised, but of course...only in my dreams!

Moving on...it was hard NOT to notice the 1935 DKW Auto Union parked right next to the R8, a nice mix of old and new! That is one of my favorite cars at the show...

And I think that the old/new theme was played out in Mercedes corner as well...

Oh, and it was not as easy to climb in and out of the SLR when compared to the R8!!!

Although most have left after 1PM, ArchiTechT cannot stop cleaning his TT!!!

A much needed rest...

I think we found a new recruit for the AudiWorld community here...this sweet B6 A4 3.0 was sitting in the sun most of the show, and A4AdMan and I were desperately trying to figure out who's car this was...

This was under the hood...

...and one of my favorites, the white UrQuattro parked in the sun!!!

Overall, a great Father's Day event at Larz!!!

P.S. - I did wander over to the Premiere Auto Club booth and met Murph's daughter...she was very nice, but I did not join the club...although I did make a pitch for Murph's detailing services, so his daughter could try and take a Ferrari or Viper home for some detailing work every now and then...but the guy running the booth was not amused LOL!!!

Default Ditto: What a GREAT Father's Day event!!! Will be on my calendar for years to come.

Great to see several of the local AWNE and NAAC crowd today as well as to meet some other local enthusiasts for the first time.

I wish I had arrived a little earlier so I could have grabbed a parking space on the lawn, but just to be at the event was good enough for me.

So after speaking with BostonDriver and ArchitecTT for a few minutes upon arrival my attention was immediately drawn to this Black B6 A4 3.0. At first glance it appeared to be a nice 3.0 with an Oettinger body kit and some cool wheels and a BBK.
<img src="http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a58/dblinn/6-17-07%20German%20Car%20Day/IMG_1776.jpg">

But then upon closer inspection I begin to notice why the owner had the hood on what is normally a very typical engine bay for a B6 A4 3.0 open for public viewing.
<img src="http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a58/dblinn/6-17-07%20German%20Car%20Day/IMG_1769.jpg">

As I began to realize that I was in the presense of what to me personally is the Holy Grail as far as performance modifications for the B6 A4 3.0 goes I couldn't help but think to myself... "now if I could just save some extra cash maybe, just maybe I could have one of these bolted on to my 3.0." Needless to say it is the first time I have seen a 3.0 with a G3 supercharger in person and the only one I know of in Massachusetts. BostonDriver and I started plotting to do the swap out of this A4 to mine but we figured that with everyone else around at the event it would be hard to do it without having a few dozen people wonder what we were doing. ;-)
<img src="http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a58/dblinn/6-17-07%20German%20Car%20Day/IMG_1766.jpg">

I then lucked out. As I was taking a few pics of my A4, now parked on the lawn, I struck up a conversation with a pair of gentlemen who happened to be the owners of the supercharged 3.0. Needless to say the next 30 minutes or so of my time was spent speaking with them about their amazing A4. Hopefully I was able to convince then to come to one of our next local GTG's to show off their A4.... and so I can see it and drool on it again.

Here are a couple of other pics that I took.

The R8. No need for commentary.

My favorite non-Audi at the event. Normally I am not a MB fan, but this one is the exception.

Default Hey, you got a nice pic of me and my daughter...

3rd pic down, red hat, girl on shoulders...

Never got a chance to meet you, but I saw your car and was looking for you and other AW crewmembers.

Wonderful day, any way you look at it. I nearly crapped myself when the R8 fired up and the guy in the DKW, not to be upstaged, fired up his two cylinders or raw fury for a little rev-fight. (Actually, he was testing a repaired spark plug lead, but the two of them together sounded like music.)

Default Seeing you in the R8, my first thought was...

how will Henry strap on the tent poles when he heads off to a reenactment!

Thanks for the great camera work.

Default LOL! Well, not enough room for much of anything else in there, and...

...since I would be going with my son and probably Mrs. Driver, I would need a car that fits more than two people.

Oh, and the money thing, yeah, can't afford one of those anyway, so I guess I'll never have to worry, right??
