Which Lou's custom exhaust is the best one to go to, or any other shops near boston for that matter?

Default I've used the Plymouth shop with good results for other cars but not for the Audi yet.

There are two things I love about them. First, they have a "no job is too small" philosophy. If all you need is to have a heat shield or a bracket welded back on, they will do it with a smile and at a nominal cost. Second, unlike most shops with their "we only do it this way" attitude, Lou's is flexible and will listen to and work with the customer to come up with collaborative solutions.

Default Things I've had done there (N. Reading):

-hole cut in downpipe (brought in off the car), bung for wideband O2 welded on
-listened and located two holes in my downpipe flange, welded them closed
-welded my dual tips onto my exhaust system
-cut a hole in an exhaust (brought in off the car) and welded on a j-pipe O2 bung

I tend to bring them my exhaust parts when they're removed from the car. But yes, they do custom stuff. If I were going to have them build me an exhaust, I'd make certain that they can make mandrel bends in stainless pipe, can supply stainless pipe, and I'd also supply my own muffler(s) and high flow cat.

Default Skip Lou's in my opinion. I considered them but after a fellow AW'er had a poor experience....

I took my business elsewhere.

Default Worcester did a "less than perfect" job on my allroad, but an AWESOME job

on a buddy's M5.

I think the diff was who did the work. a 20 something "kid" with droopy pants did my exhaust, and John (the owner) did the M5.

my tips aren't centered, one is about 1" longer than the other. I brought it back once and they "fixed" it, 2 days later it was off center and longer again.

Default I stand there watching as the work is performed.

They can't mess it up if you're standing over the tech's shoulder pointing out potential mistakes before they are made.

Default 3rd, except it sucked terribly. full of incompetence

i will say that it seems like i was dealing with some stupid/incompetent employees and not the main guy running the shop. ****ty in complete welds, poor placement of o2 sensor ... just common sense stuff that an exhaust shop should know about!!
