MA inspection, can you pass with a DTC but no CEL and all readiness passes?

I had a secondary air injection error code...
but I cleared it thinking I could at least get it to pass inspection, then get to the dealer the following week.
Nope
The inspection station had a hook up to the OBD port, and he said that the car cannot pass inspection until it is driven another 200 miles. Not enough data on something. Sure enough, about 50 miles later, the check engine light came back on.
Got it fixed, THEN I was passed for inspection.

2nd that, current MA inspections plug into OBD port, emissions issues will fail you with no CEL on
been there, done that
Failing is better than driving around expired.
Police can even ticket a parked car on the street for expired inspection I think.
Failing gets you some time to get it sorted out, and I don't think you have to pay for a re-test within a reasonable time frame.

DTCs w/o a CEL won't fail you but readiness codes not set will fail you.
That is why Boston Driver failed when he cleared the codes and they told him to drive more - that would set the readiness codes.
The readiness codes get cleared when you clear DTCs, and it takes some driving to set them.

You can get a ticket if your uninspected car is parked, but...
It's pretty cheap and carries no points. They were around $25 back in 2000 when I collected a bunch of them.
(2000 was my "year of $1000 in parking tickets". Eventually I realized that it was not only more convenient, but potentially cheaper to rent off-street parking.)

yeah, you don't need 200 miles, but enough cold starts and miles to pass all the readiness
I actually didn't get the OBDII check today since I had it last year. So I'm all set now :>
