For $210/wheel I can get them straightened and repainted and have basically brand new wheels, but for $1k, I think I'd rather go to the 18" rs6 5-spoke replicas from Hartmann, used if I could find them. I've STFA and found some negative reviews, and some positive of Rim and Wheel Works. Anybody have their wheels completely refinished and been happy with them? Considering just selling my 5 17"ers and going for a new look. Glad I picked up the 16" sport wheels for $200 last fall, they've held up well this winter.

works is a good business.
i consider myself an expert in the world of rim repair unfortunately (being a wheel ***** in boston does that to ya), and i have been around to a few places in the boston area (rimpro, rim&wheel works, tru wheels)
for refinishing, its pretty much all the same.
rim&wheel works farms out their refinishing, but its good work. the problem with wheel refinishing is it isnt that cost effective for normal wheels. you either pay $210 a wheel, or you can pay that much for a whole new wheel! not very economical. however, i recently took my HRE 545 there ($1300 each!) for straightening, and they did a great job!
i prefer rim&wheel works method for wheel straightening as they heat the wheel up to repair the bend whereas rimpro uses a cold rolling process. the difference lies in the metallurgy and temper of aluminum.(id love to discuss this if anyone is interested)
long story short: they do good work.
i also have 3 - 17" OEM celebration wheels that i would sell you ... or i would buy your celebration wheels if you decided to go with something different.

the missing chunk is from hitting a pothole at 80-90mph on i93 north near exit 13 a couple years ago. this is why you dont drive 175 ![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
the other cracks and burn marks is me unleashing a sledge hammer and MAPP torch on it.
but notice the porous metal from the missing chunk ... cast wheels are like that i guess, or at least these replicas were.

love them anymore, ready to move on to something more unique. Still have the snows on for another month, so I have time. Just out of curiosity, the ones you have for sale, are the straight and pretty?

straightening. As DXC said, they send their wheels out for the refinishing but Ina is very particular. One thing you should know is that the shiny silver color on the CElebration rims (HyperSilver) contains lead and so that paint is not available in the US. If you get your wheels refinished they will come back looking slightly less 'silver' and a bit more 'pewter' - a slight gray tone to the paint. The workmanship will be excellent, just different color than the OEM. I bought some refinished celebration rims there so I learned all about this.
